Stop killing people, you fucking twats.

How many people have to die before you finally get the message? How many wasted thoughts and prayers before someone actually does something?

We’ve all seen the news. We all know what I’m talking about.

Gun crime in America is spiralling out of control. Just on Friday (May 18th), there was yet another high school shooting, this time in Santa Fe. Ten people died. More kids just going about their daily lives. It’s evil and senseless, but why on earth is a kid able to equip themselves with a gun so damn easily?

America’s preoccupation with their precious constitution continues to be responsible for their ever growing death toll. A document written 227 years ago. You’d think that was just a tiny bit outdated now, right? Apparently not…

If you tell an American that you don’t think they should be allowed to buy guns so easily, they’ll throw “I have the right to bear arms!” in your face. But let’s break it down.

When the constitution was written in 1791, their ‘arms” were slightly different. Their guns could only fire three rounds per minute with a range of 50 metres. You would have to manually reload your pistol each time you fired. In 2018, Americans can walk into a store and buy a gun that fires 30 rounds a minute with a range of 550 metres. And in some states, you can purchase an AK-47, which can fire 600 rounds per minute.

So you see, things might need updating a little bit. However, Trump and the National Rifle Association are tight. They support each other. In fact, in the 2016 election, the NRA spent $11,438,118 to support Donald Trump—and another $19,756,346 to oppose Hillary Clinton. Disgusting, isn’t it? So if you’re hoping dear old Trump will come to the rescue, I wouldn’t hold your breath.

If you think the US doesn’t have a problem with gun control, then just take this in; in 2014 it was recorded that an estimated 88.8 percent of Americans owned a firearm. The number of privately owned small handguns per 100 residents was 88.8. That’s a whole lot of Americans who own a gun. If we compare that with the UK, well… the UK wasn’t even on the list of this study of 170 countries.

So when Trump tries to tell us that our knife crime is as bad as their gun crime, I can’t help but roll my eyes at his desperate attempt to tell us how wrong we are. How can someone be so blind as to not see the problem?

“But what can I, a UK citizen, do about US gun crime?”

Well, not a lot. But what you can do is keep talking about it. Keep putting the pressure on the US and things might start to change, state by state. Keep making your voice known, write about it, scream about it, make videos about it, tweet about it, rant about it; spread the damn message; IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS EASY FOR KIDS – OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER – TO GET HOLD OF A GUN.
